This Goodman central air split system delivers 24,000 BTU/h from the GLXS4BA2410 outdoor condenser. It’s matched with the AMST24BU1300 multi-position air handler under AHRI certificate #215214929. The 2 ton size fits starter homes, larger condos, manufactured-home replacements and rental units. It’s a good choice for property owners and installers who want an R-32 system that keeps small-home install costs down. The air handler has an internal TXV and a multi-speed ECM blower, and the condenser comes with a factory-installed filter drier and service valves ready to braze.
Is a 2 Ton Air Conditioning System the Right Size?
At 24,000 BTU/h, a 2 ton system handles a moderate cooling load. As a general reference point, that’s often a home of about 900-1,200 sq. ft. Two homes with the same floor plan can need different tonnage, though. Orientation, shade and construction quality all change the heat gain.
Before choosing 2 tons, look at ceiling insulation levels, the number and size of west-facing windows, how tight the home is, and whether the ductwork is sealed and sized right. A system that’s too big clears the thermostat quickly but pulls out less moisture. A Manual J load calculation takes the guesswork out, and it matters most when moving from an older R-22 or R-410A unit that may have been oversized.

The GLXS4BA2410 has the same compact 26″ x 26″ x 27″ footprint as the 1.5 ton, so it drops into tight side yards and small pads with little rework. It runs on 3/8″ liquid and 3/4″ suction lines, and a matching copper line set and fittings finish the refrigerant side of the install. The AMST24BU1300’s nine ECM speed taps let your technician dial in airflow for 2 ton operation on existing ducts.
