5 Ton EcoTemp 15.5 SEER2 R454B Central System W5A5S60AKAWA, WCHL605BD
This EcoTemp system pairs the W5A5S60AKAWA single-stage condenser with the WCHL605BD multipoise ECM air handler, AHRI certified at 15.5 SEER2 (#214879904). It runs on R-454B, a low-GWP A2L refrigerant, and the air handler has a refrigerant leak detection and dissipation system and a factory-installed TXV. The 5 ton air handler is a modular 2-piece cabinet. It’s cooling only, with electric heat kits from 5 kW up to 30 kW available.
Is a 5 Ton Air Conditioning System the Right Size?
A 5 ton system is the largest residential split size, often used in homes around 2,500-3,000+ sq. ft. as a loose guide.
At this size, duct capacity and return air limit performance as much as the equipment. Some large homes do better with two zoned systems, so start with a Manual J load calculation.

The W5A5S60AKAWA condenser is 38-7/16″ tall on a 31-3/16″ square base and ships at 215 lbs. The WCHL605BD air handler is 59-3/16″ tall, 24-11/16″ wide and 22-1/16″ deep and ships at 210.5 lbs. Complete the install with compatible thermostats and copper line sets and fittings.
