1.5 Ton Goodman 15 SEER2 R32 A/C System GLXS4BA1810, AMST24BU1300
This is the smallest system in the Goodman GLXS4B R32 lineup. It pairs the 18,000 BTU/h GLXS4BA1810 outdoor condenser with the AMST24BU1300 multi-position ECM air handler, and the two are AHRI certified together (AHRI #215214926). It suits homeowners, landlords and HVAC contractors replacing central air in a compact home, condo, apartment or addition. It uses lower-GWP R-32 refrigerant and a factory-installed TXV, and it’s built for cooling-only installs. You can add optional electric heat strips for backup heat.
Is a 1.5 Ton Air Conditioning System the Right Size?
A 1.5 ton system delivers 18,000 BTU/h of nominal cooling. It’s meant for spaces with a light cooling load, not just a small floor plan. As a rough starting point, it often fits small homes, condos and apartments in the 600-900 sq. ft. range. The number that matters is the home’s calculated heat gain.
Sizing depends on several factors: attic and wall insulation, window area and sun exposure, local design temperatures, air leakage, ductwork condition and how many people live there. An oversized system short-cycles and leaves humidity behind, which is a real problem in Florida and Gulf Coast homes. An undersized one runs nonstop on the hottest afternoons. A Manual J load calculation is the best way to confirm that 1.5 tons is right.
Ideal for: Condos, apartments, small single-story homes, finished bonus rooms, in-law suites and tight-envelope new construction with low cooling loads.

The GLXS4BA1810 is a compact outdoor unit at 26″ W x 26″ D x 27″ H and 117 lbs. It’s easy to set on a small pad or a condenser wall mount or stand next to a townhome or condo. Indoors, the 45″-tall AMST24BU1300 fits a closet, attic or crawlspace in upflow or horizontal position. Its ¾ HP multi-speed ECM blower lets your installer match airflow to the ductwork. If you only need the outdoor side, the 1.5 ton GLXS4BA1810 condenser is also sold separately.
