It’s the first size in the GLXS4B series with a scroll compressor, and at 67 dBA it has the lowest rated sound level in the lineup. That makes it a strong choice for homeowners whose condenser sits near a patio, bedroom window or neighbor’s fence. It’s R-32, rated 14.5 SEER2, and cooling only unless you add an optional heat kit.

Is a 3 Ton Air Conditioning System the Right Size?

Three tons, or 36,000 BTU/h, covers a wide range of mid-size homes. That’s often around 1,500-1,800 sq. ft. as a loose rule of thumb, and it’s the size many existing homes were originally built with. When a 3 ton unit is being replaced, it’s worth confirming the original size was right. Insulation, windows and ducts may have been upgraded since the first system went in.
